Well. Infestation may be a bit of a stretch, but my wife is arachnaphobic and today we had to cancel a day on the water due to dozens of spiders on our R21EC, in the cockpit AND the wheelhouse.

We moor on Lake Washington, and I've slowly watched this problem get worse over the warmer months. I thought surely there must be other tuggers that have dealt with this problem?

I looked at some other forums and saw remedies ranging from laying dryer sheets out, to leaving a coffee can full of mothballs in the wheelhouse.

I also learned that these weird tiny green and yellow drops that appeared all over my boat during the past two weeks are spider poop.

So - anyone want to share their salty remedy for keeping the buggers at bay?

Thanks,

-Steve

The marina that my boat stays in has a real spider problem and I have started war on them. First get a long handel brush with a spider web removal head and then start spraying every couple of weeks with a poison that contains Permethrin. Get the highest % you can find. With this treatment I have seen a great reduction in spiders on and around the boat. Have only used the brush once in three months other than to knock down random webs now and then. Around the water and marinas spiders are a given but you should see the difference in my slpi and others around. Even though I did not believe it, just keeping one slip clean will drive the spiders away. I bought a 32ft. extension pole and use HI-Yield 38 Plus poison purchased at the farmer's Co-Op here.
Good luck with the control.
Ron
