I'm in the process of ordering materials for building a sport rack for an r 25 classic and I'm presently about 400 miles away from her and was wondering if someone would mind running out to their 25 and measuring the distance between the grab rails where the sportrack attaches?also, how tall are the vertical legs? I want to have the materials ordered and waiting her arrival. Also if any of you have already tackled the project and wouldnt mind sharing any pearls of wisdom? Thanks! Alan

I built my sport rack for my R-25 classic, the Laurie Ann, and it was a straight forward project. The stainless on the classic was 7/8" versus 1" that is used now. You will need 4 hinged T-connectors. The are pricey, typically $20 each, but is the only way to go. Though the length measurement is most important, it does not have to exact as a conduit bender will do the bending nicely. The height of the sport rack is not critical-you decide-I made mine so the kayaks would go over the canvas cockpit cover.

Depending on what you intend to use the sport rack for, I added a piece of stainless to connect the two cross members. Hope this helpful.

On a 2008 R25 with factory sport rack its 83" flat across, outside edge to outside edge with a height of 13.5" from the top of the rail to the top of the sport rack. FYI, noticed there's a bit of a curve to the top of the cabin and a pretty good upward curve to the sport rack itself...
