The Lucky Fin should be back to the Chain of Lakes,Montana by next Monday. In the morning, assuming we are all loaded up we will start the 3000 mile trek. 400 to 500 miles a day should do it in six days. Maybe we can get it done before the fuel prices go up anymore.

Got one last grouper yesterday. Wind blew up some 4 to 6 ft seas and the fishing was terrible. I was drenched and dried out three times during the trip. We had a double on, but the one came loose right at the boat. Trout refused to bite. Lost two stretch 30's. That along with the fuel cost make the one grouper pretty expensive by the pound. Fished out of a 20 foot Key West. One of the smoothest riding boat i have been fishing out of.

P.S. US Coast Guard finally issued my capt's licence. Took six months.

Hi Darrel,

It's chilly up Montana way right now. We've been slowly working our way north for the last couple weeks. We're now in eastern SD and it got down to 33º here last night! Diesel prices are heading up... summertime approaching, the Gulf spill situation... whatever they need to "justify" the rising prices. Travel safe and thanks again for the posts on your winter travels.

Best wishes,
Jim B.
