When we are cruising in a light chop there is a loud squeaking in the dash as the bow deck and windshield deflect. Any tips for dealing with that?

We also have the same problem on our C28 but it is coming from either low in the dash or floor at the helm. Anyone else experienced this or have a remedy?

I am having similar problem with R27OB it just started last weekend.

We have this in our C28 as well. Seems a lot of the interior body panels squeak and rattle. I’ve stuffed folded up paper towels in some spots which has helped prevent the side panels from moving as much, thus reducing noise. I’ve just deemed it to be a character of the boat! [emoji3]

FYI... I'm hearing no such sound/squeak when on my 2018 R-27/OB cruising at speeds 25 to 38 mph.

The OP states "loud". It must be loud then to trump the sounds and noises of the boat rushing/slapping through the water and the engine noises !

Just what is the meaning of "windshield deflection" ? Surely the windshield is dimensionally stable, right ?

I mostly notice at real low speeds less than 5 mph.

Hmmmm, I exit/enter my marina at no more than 4 to 5 kts and do not hear squeaks etc.

You indicated -- "Just started". How long was it from not hearing the sounds to when you started hearing them ?

When did you have your boat delivered ?
Do you trailer your boat ?
Was boat recently hauled/lift out of water and back again ?
What things have you done to your boat between not hearing and hearing these sounds ?

FWIW, we had a creaking/squeaking sound from one of the windshield pillars. Reported it to Cutwater and they fixed it for us. Though it was just one item in a list of post-purchase items to address.

As eric mentioned, some items can be resolved by adding some material to prevent movement... for instance, our transom door was rattling quite a bit when the engine was running. A velcro dot (the soft side not scratchy side) placed on the door where it contacts the transom quickly and cheaply resolved that! =)

Hi

This is the first time I used the boat for trolling for Salmon
The speed was from 1 to 5 mph for about 4 hours. It was the first time hear it squeaking.

I have heard of using a tube as a sort of stethoscope to find the offending source. Then using a talcum powder in a bulb duster to lubricate the rubbing parts. May be worth a try.

Is the cabin wall side of the dinette table rubbing on the cabin wall maybe ?
Creaky/squeaky helm seat ?
Draws not secured tightly ?
The wire harnesses behind the helm front face are in a cramped space so maybe some noise from this area maybe ?
It would be useful to know more precisely where the noise source(s) is/are.

The squeak is forward of the helm station.

Not everything on a boat is attached solidly to its edges. I had the same on my sail boat after a few years and get on my r27 after two years. All the hull material can flex and expand or contract due to movement and temperature

When the material is new the surfaces are more slippery. After some time the surfaces dry out and that is when you hear those notices. They are part of the character of any structure even a car or house.

Knowing where the noise comes from gives you feed back about the health of the structure. You will know if some thing is wrong. Just refer to it as the heartbeat of your boat

with the stove top lid, vibrating at resonance frequencies at about 800RPM I cant hear any squeaking! 😀

My New R29S has a squeak/crack sound coming for the interior area near the V-berth bulkhead when I take medium to large wave on the port side at an angle (like crossing a boat wake). I have tried to find where it is coming from with no success. Has anyone else had this issue?? or any ideas where to tighten or loosen to reduce the sound??

Thanks!!
Rocky

Mine is coming from the intersection of the dash and the windshield right in the center. You can defenitely see the windshield deflect slightly with the forward deck. I do trailer it but haven't had it lifted or anything else that I can think of that would have changed.

Maybe it's just getting broken in.
