Looking to see if many owners are using the fender holders. If so are you putting them on the bow or swim platform?
Thanks,

Both. Look at our pics. Keeps the cockpit less cluttered and they’re typically dirty.

Hi Matt,

We have our fenders up on the bow in stainless fender holders. We mounted them on the outside of the rail.

Bobby,
How much vision port and starboard to you lose with them on the bow?
Just curious.

My fender baskets are mounted on the outside of the stanchion and angled forward to impede sight as little as possible. I don’t find them to be obtrusive at all. I also think they look good there. That said, I do the majority of piloting from the upper helm station (31CB)

I like the idea of these on the outside. I have been thinking about these and also worried about obstruction of view. My thought is to have them just forward of the helm and by putting them on the outside it would make it easier to walk to the bow of the vessel. I will take a closer look at this.
On a second question and not trying to derail this thread, how many fenders do most of you have on your boat. On my SeaSport I had 6 fenders three on each side. Currently on my Ranger I have 4.

Unfortunately, the R27 only has the one helm station.
Thanks,
Bill

On our R 29 we moved the fenders from the bow rail to the swim platform. We have a rail on the swim platform which made it easy. That took care of the visibility problem. It made it easier to grab fenders before rafting or pulling into a dock..

i find even a couple of lines tied on the bow rails a nuisance to visibility. 2 fenders would be problematic.

on the cutwater I can actually lay the fenders on the side decks above the cleat point and they dont move. surprisingly.

I just tie the fenders to the swimstep rail. they dont move if the bottoms are resting on the swimstep.

Currently the way I am operating as well.
