I was searching through previous posts and didn't find an answer. I was wondering how starlink is in the great lakes area. I am looking to install it on my R31CB.

We have it on our sailboat in the northern Great Lakes and it works perfectly.

Starlink on the Great Lakes is awesome . When you are in the Michigan UP or North Channel/Georgian Bay you will have limited cell service. Starlink will be a game changer. I recommend it!

I put Starlink on my boat last summer. It's got a "permanent" mount up on the mast, with wiring going down into the cabin and a switch inside the cave. Very clean install. And I can remove it in the off-season for use while camping, etc. I have not used it in the Great Lakes area but I have used it in some very remote areas in the Pacific Northwest.

I highly recommend the Starlink mini if you are concerned at all about power usage. It uses about the same amount of power as the main refrigerator in my boat. I understand that the larger star link units that will reposition themselves use a lot more power. I do a lot of anchoring out and I'm very concerned about power consumption. If you spend a lot of time at marinas, this probably won't be an issue.
