Well, Saturday, zipped out to the boat late afternoon for a run in the rain and haze.. Air Temp was about 68F and the water a bit cooler... For the first time the engine had to have a second try on auto crank before starting - Cummins 150... I am hoping this is just cooler weather and not the start of the dreaded 'chip' problem...

The lake was flat as glass... No wind, some fog, and the clouds were hiding the top of the stack at the power plant on the mouth of the Saginaw River, so we had a ceiling of about 150-200 feet (for you pilots)... The gulls were floating in large rafts that would swim madly to open a path through them for us, rather than fly (I slow down for bird brains)... The odd loon would go sailing along across our bow with his wing tips leaving dimples on the surface... Even the squadrons of geese were only 30 feet off the water... Definitely low air pressure and low ceiling affecting them...

Our shore power battery charger, less than a year old, has been making rather obvious humming and pulsating buzz noises - and being mounted to the hull above the water line can be heard from the cockpit... Since we get on and go sailing, then tie up and leave, it has not been a matter of concern once I convinced myself it was not running hot and not likely to cause a problem... But, we got a new neighbor on the port side and he quickly began asking why our boat makes noises and are we going to burn his boat down...
So, in the interest of marina harmony I called the charger manufacturer directly (rather than bug Andrew about a boat that is now second hand).. Surprise, they shipped me a brand new charger sight unseen just based on my say so... Now, that is good customer service... ProMariner gets my good guy of the week award...

That is good news to me. You are never bothering me, but I would have led you to them as I know of the problem you are mentioning. Thanks for the good report back, as we like to hear that our suppliers treat our customers well!

Do we know if this issue is specific to a series of Serial Numbers for the battery charger? Just want to ensure I'm in the clear with this such that it does not arise in 12 months time. 😀 😉

Dragging up an old posting on ProMariner.

My 3-year old ProSport20 Plus died. Andrew pointed me to Ian at ProMariner and a new one is being shipped to me today. What a great supplier!!
