For the past three years my steering fluid has only used about a tablespoon + of fluid.
Two weeks ago, before a four day trip, I check it , at the front helm station, and it needed about 1 tsp or so.

Yesterday, when i unscrewed the cap at the front helm , the fluid started very slowly oooozing out of it, but not too much. Would that be an indicator that air some how got into the line?

Hi there,

A teaspoon of fluid is entirely negligible. The reservoir does not need to be topped off to the very top. As long as the gears are submerged (you can see them if the fluid is too low by looking into the hole) you are fine. Probably what happened is that there was too much fluid in the system. A quick wipe and putting the cap back on should do the trick. Hope this helps.

Cheers,

Ralf
