New to me 2012 R25 is very difficult to maintain a straight line course. Seems I am constantly correcting left or right every few seconds. Is there something that I should inspect for damage? TYIA

Chech the fluid level by unscrewing the small plug on trio of the wheel base. Make sure you use the right fluid if you need some

Does anyone know the proper purging procedure? Or should I say the best procedure!

If you have a simple setup with one steering station and no autopilot the procedure is fairly easy if you can get to the hydraulic cylinder connected to the rudder. On my RT25SC the exhaust hose is in the way. Find out what hydraulic cylinder you have installed in you boat and go online to obtain the Installation & Maintenance manual for that cylinder. It will take 2 people, one at the steering station and one at the cylinder. Make sure you use compatible fluid specified in the manual.

Good luck!

Thanks Stuart -

I added a few ounces of hydraulic steering fluid and it did the trick. Still not exactly perfect but MUCH better. I feel like I have control of the boat now. I appreciate the advice. Sam

After adding fluid, turn the wheel 3 turns lock to lock slowly with the boat stopped. Check it again, may take a few repeats until no more add is possible.
