Had the symptoms of thruster failure today out of the blue. Turned on the breaker and the stern thruster runs to port. I can stop it by pressing the starboard thruster. Sounds like a control board / solenoid issue.

I looked into the location where the thruster is and there is only a little dampness at the bottom. No sitting water.
It also looks like I have the non waterproof version of the thruster. I think the factory has learnt the lesson now and puts the waterproof version in.

Question. On the cutwater under the stern seat I have just two access ports - 10 inch round holes. There is no way to get into to replace/repair it via these ports. Even for a thruster pin issue let alone something more serious.
How do people do this on the cutwater 28?

The only option I see is to remove the pipe work and the black water tank. But that’s a crazy amount of effort.

Pull the stern seat and then pull the fiberglass storage box out. You have plenty of access to get at the thruster.

ha! I didnt know that came out! I wonder why mine has two access hatches installed..? hope mine isnt glassed in.

thanks Brian.

My 26 Cutwater has two Beckson plates too. Those are for inspection. The seat and pan come out easily with just removing some screws.
