Stern thruster issues

2019 c28. Stern thruster quit working, I’m getting a large voltage drop when engaged and the thruster works when you apply a new 12v directly to it. My assumption is a bad wire, what gauge of wire runs back to the thruster from the thruster fuse block?

There are two large power terminals located on the thruster, 12vdc, and ground. They’re exposed to a very damp environment, and thus get corroded. When that happens, you can get the condition you are experiencing, or you can fry the 150 amp Ansel type fuse from the circuit pulling too many amps, which was my issue. I cleaned the terminals THOROUGHLY, applied a protectant, and replaced my fuse. All good! (Fuse has to be an exact replacement. Other types with same amp rating will not fit. Correct one is available from Fisheries Supply).

We have a Cutwater 206 c28 and our stern thruster only moves us to the port side but the starboard. Is there a relay located somewhere I can check?

The solenoid is inside the thruster housing. Here is a good video for diagnostics.
