I am not familiar with the cutwater nuances. On the tugs it is always important to make sure the weep holes on the port stern and side are clear so water can weep out. Use your thrusters sparingly and run them a little regularly. Do not suddenly switch directions or you will surely break the shear pin. Do not use them in bouncing seas because if the bow jumps out of the water and then back in you will break the shear pin on the bow thruster. Occasionally check down by the thruster to make sure water is not coming in, which could indicate a compromise of the seal between hull and exterior thruster leg. Note: The rear thruster has an explosionproof cover, not because of explosion, but to protect it from water. I had my boat for 10 years (R-27) never had to replace a shear pin and only replaced the rear relay once.S@LTD":3abl459j said:I didn’t realize there were issues with the thrusters. I looked in my manual and couldn’t find a maintenance protocol. For those of you who have experience this failure is there anything you can share that might help others prevent or at least delayed failure for awhile?
