The stern thruster on my 2015 R27 tug is getting power but not working have also tried it with the remote and the same result , bow thruster is working fine.

Is there a low wizz sound from it when you toggle the control? If so the motor is good, but the shear pin broke.

There is a systematic troubleshooting sequence to follow to determine the issue. If you are getting nothing I suspect it could be the fuse, thermal protector, the relay or the solenoid. It could also be a connection along the line from the controller. Follow the steps available on line from Side Power (Imtra). Don't just do a visual on the fuse. Use an ohm meter. The fuses will develop fine cracks over time and fail, but you can't see the break visually. Unfortunately if it is not an electrical connection, fuse or the controller you will have to remove the thruster to preform all the other tests. If you call Side Power for assistance make sure you tell them that it is for a Ranger Tug. The enclosure around the stern thruster is explosion proof. This is required on gas inboards. On the diesel tugs it is there for water protection and not an explosion issue. Because of this without knowing it is a tug they will require that you send the unit to them and not help you. There are some parts available from Defender on line.

As a veteran Side-Power stern thruster sufferer, one of the first steps in my diagnosis is to disconnect the plug in the control harness from the motor/drive unit and jump red to blue followed by red to gray to see if the motor runs in either direction. This bypasses everything "upstream" in the control circuit and can help with the decision of whether to remove and open the unit.

Just fixed mine.
Disassembled and trouble shooting pointed to control module. Bought another. No joy.
Found jumpered klixon thermal switch, worked, jumped other side still worked.
Wire coming out of motor was not grounded.
Disassembled motor and connection, cleaned, reassembled and worked fine.
Assembling explosion proof housing is a challenge, but got there.
All fine now.
