Died when coming into the dock tonight at home. Thankfully didn’t really need it. I can hear the motor running but no thrust. I have to assume it’s the shear pin? Sidepower / 2016 C30 CB

If the motor is running one can assume it is the shear pin. It will have to come out to trouble shoot anyway. Once out you will know for sure.

thanks knotflying! I will pull it this weekend. Changing the pin seems like the easy part relative to actually getting in the aft compartment and removing the motor 🙂

Before you change the pin, make sure that the prop is moving freely and there isn't anything stuck in the tunnel.

Good point. I will have to figure out the best way to do that without actually getting in the water at the yacht club (gross). The mounting of the stern thruster on the C30 is right down at the bottom of the transom, and of course the swim step and the cowlings are in the way. Might need to bring the boat out to andrews bay and drop the anchor and jump in the water to assess it..

I use my borescope to check it the thruster, as well as the prop and anode. It takes a little maneuvering to get the borescope into the thruster, but still a heck of a lot better than jumping in.

the drive pin was indeed broken (clean break), with a fair amount of metal shavings in the compartment. I was able to swap it in about 90 minutes time, and it's working as of now. I will still check the tunnel with a scope this weekend. Thank you all for the tips.
