Does anybody out there have any ideas as to install locks on the storage compartments and the engine cover on a Ranger 29
I live in Canada and some people up here have a tendency to borrow thing and forget to return them (just kidding)

You can replace the non "locking" locks with locking locks. They run about $35.00 at Fisheries Supply in Seattle. You can get an exact fit. Do not buy the plastic frames though. Once you tighten the screws, they will crack.

Thanks Karma we all depend on you.Living in Canada can you give me more info about the locks in order for my supplier up here to find them.

I've been north many times. I remember it being COLD! But I also recall the people being very nice & friendly more so than some parts of the US. Also, if I had to guess I would think you would have less "borrowing" than I see here in the sunny south.

I'm in Canada also and have the same issue. People here are very nice, but there are also a lot of "pioneers" who "live off the land". That means if you didn't lock it you must have meant for them to "use" it.

The security guard in my marina has advised me that batteries and other things will go missing if I don't secure the hatches. Even the employees in the marina are suspected of doing this. I would greatly appreciate knowing of a source for locking latches that are available in Canada (BC) or by mail from the US.

This link will take you right to the item at the Fisheries Supply in Seattle for the item that I have purchased for Karma. I would suggest you use a little Life Caulk around them when you install them as the originals did not have any.

Thanks, but it doesn't look like those are a replacement fit for mine. Perhaps Ranger changed the latches along the line.
Mine measure about 2 1/4" x 3". Those are 2 1/4" x 2".

I did find a couple of others on the web that might be a better fit. I'll post some links tomorrow along with some photos of mine in case anyone else has the same ones I do.

Andrew or the factory--

How about a response or suggestion on locating the compartment locks along with model numbers?

Here are some photos I took of the latches on my cockpit deck hatches:

And here are links to a few possible replacement latches that seemed like a reasonable fit:

Hello Jens,

Here is what you need. This is the exact lock we install with the locking capability. Thanks!
