I just took delivery of a 2013 R 27 and just tried the factory installed Seaward Gourmet Princess II, and not working.

The tank has propane, I've checked all connections, the igniter is working, the tank gauge says 150 (but says that whether I had the hose connected or disconnected, tank valve open or closed.)

When I turn the stove dial to "ignite", I wait 30 seconds, press ignite, and nothing. I can't really smell any gas coming into the burner either.

Do I have a stove problem, or an incorrect ignition protocol?

Hi, did you hit the pressure switch that turns on the remote solenoid switch for the propane? On my R-31, it is mounted immediately adjacent to the stove. There is a pressure switch that when pressed lights up, and shows that the propane is switched on.

Yeah, the remote solenoid tripped me up as well. I noticed the solenoid on the valve over the tank and went looking for what would activate it. Once I found it I then remembered Kenny walking me through starting up the stove 🙂

Keep in mind that the push button ignitor, on our prior R27, has a battery in it. When the battery wears down it will prevent the ignitor from doing its job. Yours should be much the same.

Makes sense, but I would have guessed it was "house" powered?
Where is that battery?

Unscrew the cap on the push button, battery is inside the little tube.

I would try hooking the tank up to another propane using device. If the safety valve gets tripped on the tank you can't get gas to flow out. We had this happen and took it back to the propane supplier and they found that the safety valve was tripped and by them inserting a fitting reset the safety valve. The safety valve prevents flow when the tank is not connected to anything if the valve were to be opened without a fitting in place I was told. After that everything worked fine. If stove had gone unused and has sat for a time it takes a little bit to get all the air out of the line. Have someone verify the solenoid at the tank is opening usually it makes an audible` click or you can put your hand on it and feel the valve open or close when someone else operates the solenoid's switch. You say stove; are you trying to light the top burners or are you speaking of the oven? If it's the oven you have to keep holding the ignite valve which feeds gas to just the pilot. The pilot will light but it has to heat up a thermal couple for about 5 seconds to open the built in safety valve before you can let it go to get gas to the main burner. They do this so you can't get main gas to the burner unless the ovens safety valve sees there is indeed something there to ignite it.

Thanks everyone. All good stuff. Yes, now I recall that little gauge next to the stove that Kenny did point out to me back in November as he explained how to work the stove. Can I claim "age" as an operating error factor here? 🙂

I'm heading to the boat right now and will hopefully find that to be the issue. I will also check the tank valve suggestion as well.
