I'm trying to figure out a convenient way of stowing the cushion that goes on the dinette to make up the double berth. I have found two places on the boat where it can fit, mainly when the boat is at the dock: in the space between the passenger seat and the console (sticks out a little into the passageway); up against the window next to the passenger seat (just fits this space, out of the way, but obstructs side vision). Neither of these is very useful for cruising.

I've been wondering why not cut the cushion down the middle and make it into two sections. They could either just be separate pieces (the lip on the table top would probably hold them together), or they could be hinged, zipped or snapped together when needed. For my purposes, I'd porbably just go with two separate pieces. Then could then fit into a number of places quite easily, such as along the sides of the forward berth to provide extra backrests.

Was this done on later R-25's? Other useful tips or ideas on where to put this cushion?

Aren't the cushons that make up the seat and backs of the dinette seating the ones that make up the complete dinette berth? That's what they usually are. There are not normally extra cushions lying around...

Most of the time, I leave that cushion home - along with the cushion to the quarter berth, and the last V-berth cushion. When I do bring it, I fold in in half, secure (the fold) with straps and stow it standing on its edge in the quarter berth (that doesn't have its cushion.) It fits pretty well.

Even folded, it's big! I like the idea of making it into smaller pieces that could be stored more easily. Please let us know what you decide to do.

Ram -

I like your idea of two separate pieces for the dinette cushion.

Ours is stored in the garage! When the grandkids go out with us, we store it in the quarterberth until bedtime.

That table is not the easiest thing to lower either. I have sprayed the top and bottom connection with teflon lube which helps a little.
