Yes, we were about a mile out and just clearing the jetty. It emerged about two more miles out and had a contingent of several fast /gun boats. Pretty steady stream of Securite broadcasts advising 500 yard distance from a US Ship of War. It all happened quickly. Initially we were making way for each other and the conning tower looked like a crucifix coming out of the sea. I thought Jesus was coming for me. I had just cleared the south jetty and I made a turn to the SE. Two fast boats had peeled off and were headed for us as our distance closed. After about 15 seconds they recognized I had taken up a new / safe heading and they proceeded in advancing into the channel bounded by the jettys. The security contingent would hail individual vessels that were within the jettys and instruct them where they needed to proceed and maintain posture until the war ship had cleared their position. They were not playing around, they were intimidating but professional and were quite efficient from the time the sub emerged until it quickly transitioned into port. They need to name that boat the USS Leroy Brown!
