In Andiamos's blog, chapter "Operation, Maintenance and Lessons Learned", the author says that the Parker/Racor R90-DS-RAC-01 can be substituted for the Yanmar fine fuel filter #120651-55020. I went to Lordco Parts Ltd where the customer service rep could not find a cross-reference on his computer search. The Parker/Racor is obviously appealing due to its substantially lower price. However, I do not wish to risk installing the wrong filter. I would be grateful if members familiar with this engine can advise if they have successfully substituted the Parker/Racor. Thanks in advance, Jim.

Jim,

I received the R90-DS-RAC-01 from Ranger Tugs when I ordered a spare filter. It is made by the European division of Parker/Racor. A Parker cross reference bulletin: http://blog.parkerrfde.com/wp-content/u ... RAC-01.pdf

It looks identical to the Yanmar part, it is likely that the Yanmar part was actually made by Parker/Racor.

Thanks so much for this Howard. It would be nice if there was an equivalent for the water separating filter - 120650-55010 but Andiamo suggests not.

As an aside, I was pricing engine zincs - 120650-13420. In my town the quotes range from $52 to $72 each. The more universal zincs in the adjacent bins (which do not fit my engine) are in the $5.50 range. Yanmar has quite the mark up. Jim.

Jim,

Get engine anodes from Boatzincs.com. They are MUCH less expensive and you can refill the zinc insert to save even more. It looks like they will ship to Canada.

I get all of my boat anodes from BoatZincs.

Goodness Howard, you are saving me a fortune. Too bad we live on opposite coasts as I owe you a beer.

Regards, Jim.

Recently replaced a fuel filter with a pasted-on Yanmar label (previous owner purchased this filter - I do not know from where): YANMAR Part No.: 120651-55020; and other Yanmar info - instruction diagrams, etc.;
Under the YANMAR label was a full imprinted RACOR label: RACOR R90-DS-RAC-01 (2 micron) and other RACOR diagrams, etc.
