Hello, I'm new to Tugnuts. My wife and I are planning a two week visit to the Olympic Peninsula in July 2025. As part of the trip, we would like to do a three-five day cruise in the area. No open ocean. The idea is to see some places that are inaccessible or hard to get to by car, but any cool places would be fun. This will also be a test for whether cruising works for us. We have experience with power boats and have done a little bit of cruising including a couple of over nights on sail boats, but have not done full out Ranger Tug-like cruising. Any advice on starting or ending routes, where to charter a Ranger tug or Solera near the National Park etc., etc., etc. would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Hi Mystic
The closest place to charter is probably Victoria and that’s likely not workable. Most charters are in puget sound and Anacortes/bellingham. If you are starting there the San Juan’s are the place to go. A short sail, protected waters and lots you can only get to by water.

Hello, the national park is remote. So there are no boat charter businesses near by. If your goal is to spend time on a Ranger Tug or Solera, I suggest you find charter operators with those boats in their fleet as the first step. I agree with the earlier comments that Victoria, Anacortes, and Bellingham are the places to start. The Fluid Motion sales department might know what charter operators have their boats in their fleet. I cruise in the San Juan’s quite a bit and think they are the best cruising grounds in the Pacific Northwest. That opinion aside, if you find a Ranger Tug in a place like Gig Harbor, you’ll have a great time on it.

Thank you... we located a charter service in Bellingham WA that also provides the RPB close quarters 1101 course. Perfect combination.

Interested in course. Which Bellingham service offers it?
