Hello fellow Tugnuts. I have a 2018 31CB Ranger tug with the standard swim platform that has 4 integrated horizontal fenders. I noticed that both rounded ends of the swim platform are subject to damage since they do not have anything protecting them. Does anyone have any suggestions to protect the corners of the swim platform when docking stern in?
Thanks

Back in carefully?

West marine has some black edge guard stuff. Plastic covered stainless steel that is flexible and comes in various thicknesses. Measure the thickness of the edge and get the one that will work. Cuts easy and presses on with a rubber mallet.

Put a fender on the dock at your slip at the problem area. I added a fender at the corner of our dock to protect hitting that corner which seems to be the challage given the wind pattern at our slip.

If backing into a slip at another dock have your first mate be ready with a lose fender to hold in the gap.

There will always be a spot on the boat to hit where there is not a fender built in. Plan for the possibility and be prepared with extra fenders or a boat hook.
