Has anyone replaced their table pedestal? My 2010 R 29 table has never been stable, and we have a hard time lowering and raising it. My wife has to stand on the table to lower it and my 8 year old grandson has to get under the table and push up to get it to start to raise. Garelick makes a gas rise pedestal that has the same specifications as the original. The tubes have groves that are supposed to make it much more stable when fully raised. I’d like to replace the current pedestal with the Garelick and was wondering if anyone else has replaced the pedestal.

Mine was as you described. I used a Teflon dry spray lubricant and now it’s up and down with no difficulty. Doesn’t help with the wobble though.

No input regarding ease of raising and lowering the table. Never had a problem on our R27 Classic with that.

Wobbling and squeaking table, however, drove me nuts. My solution was to add spring load latch pins to secure it to the wall. Much better! See photos below.

Nice solution. Did you use 1 or 2 latch pins? Did you add the screws to the rub rails? Mine are secured with brad nails.

Hi Bob,

I used two stainless steel 1/4” spring loaded latch pins. The pins lock in the retracted position to allow for moving the table. Yes, I added the screws to the rub rail to make it more secure (pressing or leaning on the table etc.) especially with such large holes drilled in the rail. Ours had a screw already on each end (one at top shown) and I added two more next to the drilled hole.

Just completed Curt's mod on steadying the table. Wow! What a difference. Thanks Curt for posting your solution.

I am definitely going to do this.. looks perfect and thanks for the details on the hardware. My solution was to use the CB pedestal table pole and a small book and wedge it under that side. 🙂 Very solid actually but not a perm solution. So thanks!

On my 2017 Rt29, there’s a 1” gap between the table and the wall, so the bolt doesn’t reach the wall.

My only problem with the table is that it won't stay at its highest setting, which is where I want it, no matter how much I tighten the clamps. After about a month of cruising, it drops far enough that I can barely get my legs under it. I'd love someone to solve that problem.

We had the same annoying problem. I finally found a remnant piece of light weight 4" PVC tubing in the boneyard that I was able to rip lengthwise with a skillsaw leaving just over half the diameter of the pedestal on the larger piece. Cut to the length you want you can snap it on the pedestal from behind and no one will notice. Has worked well. I think the top portion is 3" but I don't remember for sure.

What a great solution! Thanks so much! I’m going to give it a try.
