On the Laurie Ann, we have taken the table down several times and found it stiff and a somewhat difficult task but I am grateful for the stiffness of the setup. If the legs were easy to take down, the table would not be as stiff. I suppose the table could have been hung from the wall with brackets like our Catalina 27 sailboat's table. I have also found that the table legs will loosen over time and repetition of use. Also, coat the joint with a light application of vegetable oil.
As a side note, we wanted the table to be stiffer because my crew has "heavy elbows" aka likes to lean on it, so I added two PVC legs with rubber caps on the ends that wedge in the two corners against the wall. Works like a charm and table does not budge! You can see the photo of this in the Laurie Ann album.

Just a word of caution on the vegtable oil, this will turn to gum after a while and actually "glue" things together. I use mineral oil to lube the head once every other week. You could use this for lubing the legs on the table and it will not turn to gum....
On lubing the head, pour about a quarter cup of oil into the bottom of the bowl. Pump it through with the setting on wet bowl. You will be surprise how much easier it pumps!

We take the table down every night that we are on Ruby-Ann. It is easy with two people, but my son does it by himself most of the time. He is 17 and it doesn't bother him to climb under it and take it down. I have taken it down by myself but I would rather not do the job by myself.

Agree it is a pain..but it got better for me after some silicone spray...but the mineral oil idea might be better. I have done it by myself...my friend says i look like a chimp trying to lift a log. Two people can do it.

Like they say - Boats are the biggest compromise you will probably make. The table being a little difficult to remove is pretty minor.
Just think, there is no compromise on looks or sea-worthiness for the Ranger Tug!

At first, the table take-down is frustrating. The table seems to be locked up, no matter what you do. The little release latches don't seem to release, etc.
The more times I do it, the easier it gets; and I think it's mind over matter.
One big suggestion: the table needs to be exactly horizontal to come off the posts. It won't come off if it's tilted, even ever so slightly. While 2 persons can do it better than one, one can get under the table (I'm 6-3, so it's quite a gymnastic feat) and push evenly up, while holding the releases, using your back as the force. Yes, I'm a contortionist in my spare time, also do magic tricks......
The only real challenge is getting the table, itself, up and off the posts. Unscrewing the posts is just rotation, and putting them back in the next morning and dropping the table back on the 2 posts is relatively a snap.
At least, this challenge does not involve any electronic cicuit boards, or plumbing that is completely out of sight. Just the 2 posts and a table. Now, what could be hard about that???

I will save everyone an extreme amount of hassle on the table. On top of each of the legs there is a black lock. If you take about an 1/8" drillbit and drill the rivet out and remove those locks it will make your life easy. You can then sit with your partner on each side of the table and wiggle it free without having the hold in the locks at the same time. 😎 We currently are ordering those legs without the locks. Hope this helps!

The R25 is staying the same. It is not difficult to remove without the locks. Seems to work fine when the locks are removed.
