Tanks serviceable?

I am just curious about this topic. I am sure the tanks are built like ehm "tanks", pardon the pun.

But if for unknown reasons it should become necessary to replace water, fuel or holding tank is actually possible to do so or are the tanks permanent. Can the superstructure be lifted for that access or is it permanently glued together to the hull

I believe the holding tank on the R-27 (Classic) can be removed/replaced with some disassembly and some challenging efforts. I'm unsure about the fuel and fresh water tanks however. I suspect these two would be extremely problematic to replace to say the least.

I picked up a few cups of water at the last fill up. Is it possible to get to the top of the fuel tank on the 2010 R-25 so I can filter out the water?

You should be able to access the inside of the tank where the fuel level sender is located, might be tight but should be able to remove the sender or move it enough to use something to scoop out water. Usually the work involved and the mess that is made from spilling diesel isn't worth it and better to just have the Racor do its job by separating the water and draining it every so often till you don't see any water in the Racor. I don't think my 2010 Ranger 25 has a fuel level sensor. The only way I can read the level is with the implied sensor that is generated electronically from the fuel flow sensor. I remove the inspection plate just inside the door and there's nothing resembling an opening at that point.

It seems that has to be an easy way to access the top of the tank because water in diesel fuel is not at all uncommon.

In the mean time I will install a Racor water separator before the factory Racor filter and generator filter so the water is collected before the water sensor shuts off the engine. No big deal since this will take care of the problem.
