The backing on my cockpit carpet is breaking down. I called the manufacture back East and they said I am the first complaint they ever had, (yeah right!). They did say that i could make a clam and they would check into maybe replacing it. But I would get the same junk in replacement. No Thanks! Everyone I have talked to has had the same problem with there cockpit carpet.
There is a company in Portland Or, That will do the same teak carpet with a heavy duty backing that will last. I have used these guys before on my old boat and they really do put out a quality product. My problem is, that they want $700.00 to replace it. I sent them a pattern for the quote.
Tym on the Circle T had a flexiteak deck installed on his boat. It looks great! If I double what I would spend on the new carpet I will have a deck that will last forever.
So this Fall when We haul the boat out west for the winter I am making a stop in San Diego for a day to have the teak deck installed.
Below is a pic of Circle T's
