I have several small holes in my teak trim and would like to find a wood filler to match the RT teak wood.

Thanks in advance for your help.

You might try drilling out the holes to a diameter for which you can obtain teak plugs or from a plug cutter you purchase. If you are carefull about grain and color matching you will achieve better results.

The size of the holes will determine the fix. Small holes less than a 1/4 inch you can use a similar color pliable putty. Larger than that a wood plug. The plug gets a bit more involved. To do it right you should get a piece of teak and a plug cutter. You want face grain and put the plug grain in the same direction. There are also pre-made plugs that will remain level with the surface. Drill the hole to fit the plug size and then sand smooth and refinish.

Thanks for the plug information. I am try to fix holes left from several items that were removed prior to us purchasing the boat. Most of the holes are very small and I am looking for a wood filler close in color to the RT teak. The RT teak seems to have a red/orange component to its color and I am having trouble finding a match. Also all of the teak I could purchase locally to make plugs is much more brown than the RT teak.

I did get a note from someone that Elmer's cherry wood filler is a close match. I will try that.

I was hoping the factory would chime in and let us know what they use for covering up small imperfections. It would also be useful if the factory could let us know the type and source for the teak they use.

Thanks all

I found out from the factory a few years ago they use Blend Sticks by Plasticwood. Get the pack for red woods.

Thanks everyone, with your suggestions I should be able to find a color to do the job.

hello,

The teak filler we use on our teak panels is ProBond Wood filler. (Color Walnut) we get it from Lowes and it's Interior/Exterior. it's sandable and easy water cleap-up. You might try this or what Red Raven suggested might be good to try as well.

thank you,
