Does anyone have the correct Tecma part number for the discharge check valve? And where to find one?
I’m pretty sure the head is a Tecma 38599. I also think the check valve is a Thetford lower discharge check valve (unknown part number). But I am not sure if I need the straight or 90. Just want confirmation before I order it. Also, does anyone know if the upper discharge check valve is replaceable? It appears (in the schematic) to be integral to the pump. Last question, any tips on replacing it? Once I unbolt the head from the deck is the valve easily accessible? Thanks.

what are the symptoms you are experiencing with the head that is leading you down this path? Typically, you can just replace the rubber duck bill (joker valve) in the pump assembly. Marine Sanitation in Seattle will tell you what size you need, I can't recall based on your head if they are 1.5" or 2". Replacing the duck bill is a messy but generally easy job that can be done in less than 1 hour. Unbolt the toilet, slide it way from the wall, and you can take it apart. Wear gloves and have plenty of rags / towels handy.

Head has worked fine for the two years we have had it. The tank was pumped and thoroughly flushed two days before and had maybe 6 cycles since. Starting on Saturday, after a normal flush, and every flush thereafter, it would slowly fill with water to about three inches below the rim. The water is clear at first but as it fills has a yellow tinge. Closed the intake, this didn’t help. Opened the pump out access in case there was a pressure build up, no help. Vent is clear and open. We can do a couple of dry flushes and eventually end up with a normal water level.

Tecma technical data sheets are a little vague but only show the “lower check valve” as being replaceable. Although the schematic I have does show a joker valve as part of the check valve, it does not have a part number nor does it show the check valve can be disassembled, leading me to believe I have to replace the entire valve. I want to have that valve in hand before I tear into it as I do not want to have to do this twice.

I was hoping to hear from someone who has actually done this replacement for confirmation.

On Tuesday we did another pump out and flush. The problem has not occurred again since. I am thinking (hoping) material was stuck in the valve and was washed out during the flush out of the tank.

I would still like to hear from someone with experience replacing the valve on this model.

Thanks for your reply.

I have done this hence my reply. I was experiencing the same symptoms, although not the exact same fill level. Just some back fill with some off color. I have also unbolted the toilet and changed the check valve while not replacing the entire assembly. A pack of 4 duckbills is about $38. It’s a sub one hour but obviously messy job. Wear gloves and have plenty of towels handy.

We have a 2021 C28 and the toilet has been an issue with back flooding the waste into the bowel since new. Apparently according to Port Boathouse this is a known issue (at least on our model) and was told the factory was trying to come up with a fix. Brian Brown had said on his 26 foot Cutwater that the installation was not done properly.

Hi Dave,

Can you confirm you have the Tecma head?

Was access to the valve itself straightforward, did you have to disassemble the housing?

Are any additional gaskets or other parts required for reassembly?

Thanks for the info.

Is this a Tecma head? If so, what model? I think mine is similar to the “Silence” model.

Yes I have the Tecma head. It was all very easy to take apart. No additional parts or gaskets needed.🙂

Great! I’ll give it a try then.
