Subject: Tender/Dinghy location for R-23 & R-27/OB models

Much has been discussed about where and how to install, carry, locate a dinghy or a kayak on the outboard RT models.

At the recent Roche Harbour a fella approached me while standing in my R-27/OB cockpit and we started talking about this subject. He came up with what I considered to be a novel approach.

For an inflatable kayak (and maybe for a smallish dinghy) why not lay it vertically in the cockpit on the starboard side with its bow touching the cabin wall and its stern hanging out through the starboard side opened cockpit door and onto the transom platform. There's enough room for it to hang off the rear of the transom platform so as to not interfere with the motor being turned hard over.

For a kayak there should be no interference to rear visibility whereas there might be for a large/wider inflatable dinghy.

When wanting to launch the kayak or dinghy, simply push is backwards and into the water. No heavy lifting or struggling will be required.

That's how we carry ours on the R25 when we need to run in rough water and don't feel like climbing up top. Works fine as a temporary measure but takes up a lot of cockpit space. Plus on the inboard it obstructs the engine hatch which I don't particularly care for. It's easily tried out at no trouble or expense.
