Have had the R 21EC since July 6th. so far have put 20 hours on her..
1st was the orientation with Kenny at Point Defiance
2nd and 3rd trips were to our local lake to get some operational experience.
this last trip was to Scappoose, and McCuddys Marina.
We pulled into McCuddy's and first thing we noticed was a full parking lot, Yikes.. I found the Marina Manager, Scott and he quickly resolved the issue.. We paid our $20.00 mooring fee which included electric and Wifi.. and proceeded to launch the boat, realizing . there is no dock to tie up to.. MR Gale quickly learned how to launch and go.. pulled it off with out a hitch. He motored on over to our assigned space. .. and whatcha know.. 4 spaces down is another R 21EC.. Soul Mate

You have to realize that we have never spent the night in a Marina, had did not know what to expect.. First we go to hook up the electric.. we have a heavy duty 15amp outdoor power cord.. and discover we do not have the correct end plug to connect to the Marina's power box. I walked over and took a look at what Soul Mate had.. AH HA a adapter!!.. so off to town we go. The only thing that was open was Fred Meyers and no luck.. so night one was no power night.. A mighty dangerous set of circumstances, cause noone would want to even know me without my coffee!!.. Knowing this we stopped at Burger King and I filled my emergency thermos!! ( always thinking ahead)

Back at the Marina, we settled in for the night.. I knew it would get pretty cool on the water ... so I brought extra bedding. Didnt sleep well at all that first night.. I apparently don't do well with out electricity either.. I was up bright an early at the crack of dawn.. Had my coffee.. and we head out.

It was a beautiful morning.. no other boats on the water as we head south on the Multnomah channel, headed to the willamette river. I had lots of photo opportunities, many beautiful floating homes. Pulled into Fred's marina, nice place, and a very informative Marina Manager. But still no adapter.. We motor ourselves onto the Williamette still continuing south and hoping to make it to Oregon city and the falls. We met a true Tug boat coming up the Williamette and the captain actually saluted our little Tug.

We made it Portland, I always wanted to see Portland from the water. Beautiful city. I have seen it from the 405 as I whizz by on my way to work. Just lovely.

As we approach Portland we encounter more boats of all sizes. most were polite and followed the boating rules.. There those few that caused problems with all they met. how hard is it to understand simple boating etiquette?? As we motor on south, we find ourselves surrounded by Jet ski's.. Wake boarders..and water-skiers .. We, not ever being part of a herd, decided to turn around and head back to the Multnomah channel. The trip back was uneventful, made it back to Mccuddy's.. and off we go to find the elusive cord adapter. Find one at Ace Hardware.. We had a lovely dinner at Ichabods. and returned safe and sound back at the Marina. Me and my coffeemaker were quite happy, Slept exceptionally well our last night.

Sunday morning, we packed up for the trip home. I backed the trailer down the ramp and Gale loaded the boat like he had done it a million times before. So ends our first ever weekend on Tonka

You made it.... well done... Sounds like you enjoyed it.... and yes the R-21EC shore power can be a challenge if not forewarned about needing an adapter. Good post.... thanks. It's hard to get back to work after a weekend like that. There have been times when I was so pumped up with a boating adventure that I just had to call in sick afterwards....
