The Empire's ECM strikes again...

Denny, I think if you reference Cummins SB-2009-63R1 or CMD 2009-03R1 to the Bridgeway branch they will find your ECM change should be covered under warranty. I have a copy of the SB if you would like me to send, but not sure how to add an attachment to a posted reply. Therefore, will see if I can send by PM.

After reading the David Pascoe article, I'm going to mount a transom on my swim platform and an outboard motor on the rail.

We bought 2 long paddles, as yet untried.

We had great success with our Yanmar 4JHE and hope to have the same with the 3YM30. Exide..... now that's a different matter. Lots of diesel problems I can fix afloat (filters, leaks, straners, impellers, belts) but a flat battery is a flat battery. I always hope there will be enough left to get a message out offering $20 to the first boat to show up to jump us off, and then, to have someone respond. But then, I would need to carry those long jumper cables again.....

One might be able to start the R21EC engine by hand cranking. I used a wrench on the large nut on the crank pulley to rotate the engine to adjust the valves.

It might be a bit tricky to get it off when the engine started. 😱 Perhaps a rachet and socket? 😉

Owned a Triumph TR3 and MGA with hand cranks. They were used frequently. 🙂

sell that thing, get a boat with a yanmar. very few problems, easy to work on. smooth sailing....don l.

Don, the defective Bosch ECM is/was the only problem with this boat and it is the fault of Bosch, not specifically Cummins... Yanmar, while a good company, has been having their own teething problems ...
My complaint is two very specific items... Why does it take 28 days to replace a known defective ECM (mere minutes to physically change out) and why are they charging me two grand for something that is a known factory defect?
Andrew is trying to get Cummins to step up ot the plate on this...
