The number one thing to change on the R-27

Todd,
If it helps any, the grills can be pulled out and turned at 90 degree segments since they are square. Agreed they could be a bit stronger. And to paraphrase your comment it sounds like the number one improvement on the R-27 may be 2 more feet.

Hello R27 Owners:

Please check out YOLO's photo album. We added a ladder in the v-berth, added seating in the cockpit and re-worked the cave for storage.

I love the idea of adding a seat in the opening to the v-berth. That could be next!

...and don't forget the extra beam 1.5-feet dimension and some $70K difference in base price.

Barry: I really appreciate your photo collection of the modifications you've made to your R-27. Very clever and well thought out. Many of them can also apply to the R-25 and R-25SC.

I especially like the escape ladder addition, the extra cockpit corner seating/cushion extension and all that work you must have put in designing and installing the cave storage... fantastic.

Maybe we can collaborate on the seat design for the opening to the V-berth... 🙂 Please let me know via PM if you've already started this addition. Thanks.

The number one thing I need to change on my R 27 is the first mate.....I need a new girlfriend...
Phil

Phil: That's a serious modification... Well, don't expect Jeff, Andrew, Kenny or the factory to help you with this change... Good luck in your search though... 🙂

Figure out how to put a couch in it. My wife has that as one of her main points for our next boat!

Along those lines for the R29...ditch the cave and put a couch in...

So most of the changes mentioned here so far are for inside items. Are there any wanted changes to the boat's outside such as superstructure color, mast assembly changes, dual VHF antennas (I've noticed on one R-27 there are two antennas -- one on each side!!!!), different type of windows, more or less windows, wider cabin/cockpit door, more cleats, larger cleats and integral storage lockers on top of cabin roof.

I would much rather have cleats on the bow where the chocks are currently located.

When a grab a mooring that has a dual pendant, the pendants are not long enough to come through the chocks and tie off on the cleat behind the windlass. I end up having to make a bridle.
