When I bought my boat, new back in 2014, a 2015 R-25 model, we went on the Desolation Sound cruise. While talking with Jeff, someone came up and mentioned that the windows in their brand-new 29 were leaking. After they walked away, I asked Jeff about it.
He said, “Yeah, we don’t quite have that worked out yet. But yours will never leak. We figured out why and corrected it, and that’s one reason we do these cruises. We learn a lot.”
And for the last 12 years, not a drop through my windows.
Toward the end of that same cruise my depth sounder quit working, and they replaced it no questions asked. And it also is still in use.
That always stuck with me. Problems can happen with anything mechanical, but how a company responds tells you a lot about who they are. Perhaps a dealer is sometimes less inclined to fix things than the manufacturer itself.
