I bought the Slo Ranger last winter and went thru it and here are a few items I found that I thought might be of interest to owners of older tugs.
The power cord that plugs into the boat the wires had come loose and shorted out.
Just had a GFCI tripped and would not reset, it was the one in the head the wires had gotten wet from the showers.
The heater hose that goes to the circulation pump where it connects to the engine pinched itself slowing coolant flow at the engine next to the thermostat.
Removed the red dot heater and vacuumed out water on the starboard side under the cabinets and removed the forward cushions and vacuumed the water under the cockpit floor. The smell went away quickly.
Sent the Wallas stove out for a tune up
I would suggest cleaning all your battery terminals, fuses, thruster connections, locate your windlass fuse and know how to reset it.
Fill up the bilge to test the pumps automatic function.
Check the connection of the anchor line in the locker be sure the drain is not plugged., Zip tie or stainless wire the shackle at the chain to the anchor.
Removed the faucet and shower screens they were plugged up good.
Updated the battery charger, replaced the sea water pump, all the filters and coolant, engine oil, belt.
I am going to replace the circulation pump impeller and the macerator this year.
After all that and more you get to know your boat and systems very well, and trust it a little more.
It is the best experience owning one of these boats. I had one pass me on I-5 in 2007 and swore I would get one and here it is. NO Regrets
I posted pictures of the power cords in the album.
