It's going to be a wild week. Monday 14th I drive from NYC to Barrington RI to close on my new 10' center console rib dinghy. I'll put it on my current dinghy trailer for my 14' center console that is too big for my new Ranger. Tuesday 15th I close on my house that I have lived in since 1993. Then the next day, 16th, I drive to Beaufort NC to close on the Ranger 29S. Closing is on the morning of the 17th then I load up and head north up the ICW heading for New York. After all that a few days decompressing as I do the delivery will be a much needed break.

My final destination is Piermont NY, where I have just secured a Marina berth for the season. Hopefully all goes well because on July 1st I'm heading for New England for a two week cruise.

How I ever found time to do a full time job I'll never know. Retirement is exhausting!!

Best wishes for successful transactions and safe travel.

Closing #1 for the new dinghy, flawless.

Closing #2 selling my house, mostly OK but I struggled to get everything out of the house!

Closing #3, the Ranger 29S. Well, the paperwork went fine and I was soon on my way north from Swansboro NC to NYC. I got about an hour north before the engine depowered and threw a bunch of engine codes at me. I anchored on the edge of the ICW to check things out. The codes initially pointed to electrical but the visual and sensory symptoms said otherwise. Engine rough and some white smoke from the exhaust. I limped into Beaufort NC and am still stuck here until Monday when the mechanic returns with injectors and a diagnostic laptop. Hopefully I'll be up and running again soon.

On a slightly seperate note, I had the boat surveyed before purchase but the surveyor did not ascertain that neither of the CD players worked. Do I have any recourse from the seller or am I stuck with a replacement bill? (I can actually do it myself but it's a pain).

I would be less worried about the CD players from the seller vs the engine issues....

Did you have an engine survey done?

Sorry to hear about your issues with the boat. Unfortunately I would say no recourse on the CD player unless the survey contract addresses issues that occur in a specified time. Yes, I would be more concerned with the engine issue. Hopefully a sensor or some other module. Keep us posted. And remember, It's a boat. There is always something that goes wrong.

Yes, the boat received it's 1000 hour service then was taken for sea trials by the surveyor. Oil samples done on both engine and generator. No apparent issues.

In my many (too many?) years of boat ownership I have learned that there are two types of boats; those that have gone wrong and those that are just about to go wrong.
