Hello All

Just wanted to give folks a heads up. I have a 2017 Cutwater 28, that has spent maybe 2 years total in the water. I trailer it two hours twice a year from home to my dock. I launched it in June only to find one of the thru hulls leaking. Took it in for repair and they found one of the other ones also leaking. The boat yard feels that the cause was deterioration of the sealant. You should definitely check those thru-hulls. Also a question, would this be something expected?

IMHO it's not normal for thru hulls to leak. Most thru hulls that I've worked with were installed with 3M 5200 or if above waterline it could be 4200. Those products usually last longer than the thru hull itself.

I don't have a Cutwater yet, but I'd be very surprised if they used something different.

Seems kind of strange to me also.

Boy that is a concern. Sure hope I don’t have a similar issue one year from now. Thanks for the heads up.
