The thruster joystick on our 2012 ranger 27 isn’t working. The remote works for the stern thruster. The battery switch is on and I don’t see a breaker or separate switch. Any thoughts from other ranger owners?

There is a troubleshooting guide for the thrusters. I would first troubleshoot the joystick. The joystick is not an inexpensive item. They run around $500.00. Here is a link to the guide. Follow it. Imtra is also very helpful if you need questions answered. https://www.imtra.com/Portals/0/docs/SP_Troubleshooting_Guide_pre-IPC_4-wire.pdf This guide may be outdated so a call to Imtra may be in order.

I have the trouble shooting guide titled "Trouble-shooting Guide for DC Thrusters Post 2005 thrusters with IPC control system".

I believe I got it off the Imtra site. If you can't find it, PM me and I'll email it to you.

Also before taking anything apart I would also check the Thruster fuse in the port cockpit locker (where generator is if you have one). See if there is any corrosion on the posts/nuts and it has the appropriate voltage on both sides of the fuse. I didn't see that check in the troubleshooting guide. For some reason they say check the battery, then jump right to the connections at the thruster motor which requires some work to access it.

Going along with Gayles, the fuse may look good, but they can often develop hairline cracks and they look good. but aren't. Use an ohm meter.
