I tried to use the remote for the thrusters and no response. Replaced the batteries on the remote,
still not working but the lights on the remote work. I must be missing a step somewhere.
Can anyone offer any solutions?

Thanks

Sorry to ask the obvious, but did you push both "on" buttons simultaneously to activate the remote? I'm not on board, but I think that's the first step.

it is probably a stupid question but did you turn on the rocker switch for the remote on the panel as well? On a R-31 it is next to the horn and nav lights. It only took a couple uses for me to decide the remote was a waste of money and complexity to me. I like the little joysticks better.

Thanks for the suggestions. I did push both buttons on the remote but no action other than the remote
lights flash on when you press the buttons. The thruster was turned prior to trying the remote.
I am not aware of a toggle switch on the dash for the remote. I will be on the tug tomorrow and check
that possibility out.
I find I only used the remote if I am by myself and the wind and current are pushing the bow away from the dock.

Thanks again,

Jim

I recall now that the thruster remote was dead when my 2013 R-27 was delivered. If I remember right, the dealer had to reprogram the remote and receiver after the new batteries were installed. If everything worked OK before your battery replacement and if the joysticks still work, I'd say reprogramming is the next thing to try. The instructions are in the manual for the remote, which is available online. The receiver on my boat is behind the 12-volt breaker panel at the helm, which has to be removed for access. Good luck. BTW, I find the remote is a great help when I'm single-handedly docking or mooring and need to move one end or the other of the boat sideways while I am away from the helm.

I had the same problem and discovered that I had to "reactivate" the remote, much like linking a bluetooth device to your cell phone. The manual provides guidance on how to do this. It was a royal pain finding the magic "Prog" button. On my Cutwater 28, I had to crawl in the cave, remove the panel that is closest to the thruster control, and reset the Prog button. My arm was about five inches too short to reach it so I had to do some acrobatics to push the button. Good luck. Take your back medicine first. . .

My remote seems to burn thru the little 3volt battery in no time at all. I make sure i turn the helm switch off but still end up with dead battery. Anyone else having this issue?

Where are the thruster fuses on the R31? I need some help please.

The thruster remote for the Ranger 29 and 31 are operated by a remote accessory switch right next to your horn switch. This must be on for it to operate. The main fuse for the thrusters are located by the battery switches in the cockpit on the 31.

Thank you Core and Andrew for the heads up on the rocker switch which is located on the helm panel.
Must have had a senior moment. The switch is now labeled "thruster" and all is well.
