Anyone know where the thruster remote receiver is hidden on a R25SC?

It's under the control joysticks on the throttle/shifter shelf.

Epilogue,

I then assume access is behind the electrical panel. My remote stopped working. When I turn the remote on the lights flash which I assume it is trying to pair with the receiver. I tried new batteries in the remote, but get the same flashing lights. My next approach is to try and pair the remote to the receiver.

Thanks

Richard

Is the remote accessory switch turned on? Just a thought.

Kip,

Good thought, however on my RT25SC there is no remote accessory switch. I assume the remote receiver is turned on when the thruster battery switch is turned on, just like power is applied to the joy sticks. I have not used the thruster remote since last year. Last year it did work with all power switches in the same configuration. I need to get at the remote receiver to try and diagnose the problem.

New batteries in the remote?

You can remove the joysticks to access the receiver. On each corner of the joystick there are covers you can remove to get to the mounting screws. Once those are removed you can lift the joysticks up to get to the receiver.

Hope this helps!

Kenny... Thanks

Tlkenyon... yes new batteries installed

Hi Dick,

I installed the thruster remote myself on your boat. If my memory serves, it is powered from the breaker labeled "Accessory" down near the bottom of the D.C. Panel. That breaker needs to be on in order for the thruster remote to work.

It's easy to overlook. Hope it's just that simple.

Michael,

Thanks for the information. I believe I turned all the D.C. Panel switches on including the spare, but still did not work. I will try again. By the way, where did you put the remote?

Thanks,

Dick

The remote receiver is under the thruster joystick panel. Kenny explained how to remove the panel.

If turning the breaker on doesn't solve the problem, check the wiring at the receiver and also at the breaker.

Michael,

I looked at the manual for the the remote and found that the remote receiver does not have separate power connections. It is powered thru the S-Link bus connector just like the joysticks. Therefore, since the joysticks can be turned on once the thruster battery switch is turned on, the S-Link bus must be powered and I would think the remote receiver is also powered.

I can't get to the boat until Saturday and will let you know what I find.

Dick

I'm working strictly from memory here. It's not what it used to be...

I do recall needing a separate power supply to the receiver and using the spare breaker at the bottom of the D.C. panel as the source. I googled the installation manual and it clearly states that a separate power supply, with a 5 amp fuse, is required. What I don't remember is whether I installed a 5 amp fuse in-line or if I reasoned that the breaker would do the same job as the fuse. I also don't recall the exact model of the receiver. Perhaps we're looking at the manuals for different models?

In any event, I'm sorry you're having this issue and please let me know how you get it resolved.

Michael,

The only documentation I have is what I was able to get online for the model thruster on the boat. One of the features of the Side Power thrusters is that all elements of the system plug into a bus. This bus provides power for "control" of the thrusters, joysticks and remote receiver. Maybe since you added on the remote receiver after the thruster system was installed it is wired in differently. I did try turning on the spare breaker, but no joy. In fact, I turned every switch and breaker on the boat on and the remote's lights just blink indicating it is trying to pair with the remote receiver.

I did not have time Saturday to take the joysticks off to look in at the remote receiver. It was time to change the oil/filter for the reverse gear and install a petcock on the primary filter to help diagnose the water in fuel alarm. I got another water in fuel alarm today and shut the engine down to clear the alarm. I then restarted the engine and no water in fuel alarm came on for the rest of our trip, about 90 minutes. One would think if water is in the filter the alarm should come back on. I am getting tired of draining fuel, it is lowering my fuel mileage.
