Do you see ant problems replacing the thrusters from the side power se30s to the side power se40s? Do you know if this has been done in the past?

I have found the bow thruster on my 27OB to be totally inadequate for the waters we travel most and I started to look into a more powerful thruster. What I ran into was, cables to the thruster were not big enough for the increased current that the larger thruster would require. This would have been easily solved moving the thruster battery to the bow of the boat. On the other hand, while I have the equipment and knowledge to install a larger thruster, I am not in a hurry to cut up my boat to install a larger thruster. Typically a more powerful thruster also has a larger diameter prop and that means putting a larger hole in the boat to accommodate it.
If you were talking the stern thruster, then my concern would be, will the mounting holes line up or will you have to drill new ones. Again, will the power cables handle the current of the more powerful thruster?

If had to change the thrusters I would opt for a water jet type thruster where you have a central pump and ducting to redirect the flow where they need to be. For the aft session that would mean having jets properly at each side without being affected by the rudder. The current aft thruster could be used as inlet for the entire system

Just my 2c of opinion.

The chAnging from se 30 to se 40, advantage is no cutting into boat or changes. My understanding is they made the se. 40 to the specifications of the se 30s so no major changes. Yes. Cables would have to be upgraded due to the change in power.

Just thinking about and wanted to see what others have ever upgraded.

Thanks.
