I have a Yakima Rocketbox on my R23. So far, I have put downriggers, fishing gear, folding chairs, air pumps and other gear up there. It is sometimes easier to get to than cockpit hatches that might have gear on top, although walking the rail when on the water is a bit exciting at times.
I have also removed the box and used it on my truck for a rafting trip. Nice to have something that can transfer so easily.

We have a Yakima cargo box on the starboard side our RT 25 Classic. It was a perfect fit on our existing railing tubes. We store spare life jackets, spare fenders for rafting, a ramp for changing a flat trailer tire, oars for the dinghy and other bulky but lighter items we don’t want in the cave.
I’m in process of installing a 180 watt Grape solar panel on the port side. Except for very low sun angles shading of the solar panel by the cargo box should not be a problem.

We use one as well. Would not be without it. Access and capacity is wonderful.

I added a box to my C-28. I have added some photos to my Photo Album. It is under Crazy Heart and I created a “Thule” album for these photos. I used the Thule Pulse Alpine 613. It has a lower profile than most cargo boxes. Even at that I think I am losing some of my radar return on that side. I am going to look at raising the radar. Perhaps switch it with the TV dome. Has anyone tried that?
The install was easy but I had to slide one of the cross bars to get a wider spread to fit the Thule. I just redrilled and remounted the rear solor panel attachment brackets to accomplish that move.
The extra storage is nice!

A Thule box comes with the u bolts for mounting on a roof rack. The U bolts will fit the RT roof rack. I have one, for sale.
