Tilex for cleaning lower unit on OB

Some talk around the marina about the best product for cleaning the lower unit of an outboard that has gathered some algae and scum after sitting in the water for a week or 2. One product was Tilex. Several people swear by it, spray on and hose off. One concern I have is how Eco friendly is this stuff? Couldn't find anything about ill effects and potential pollution issues. Anyone have any other suggestions. Yes the motor will be raised in the future when not being used.

I saw your boat and spoke with you for a few minutes while we were Dingy cruising last weekend. Beautiful boat! The scum build up your gearcase was not to bad . Any toilet bowl cleaner works find. I have found (The Works) works well for cleaning the scum and build up on underwater components. It also removes the water spots and build up on the Midsections of outboards. The Midsections get very warm when running at higher speeds the water that splashes up and hits it dries and leaves a Limescale or calcium buildup and starts look dull. Wipe it down from time to time with (The Works ) and it will shine like new.
