Our toilet is splashing d out of bowl does seem to drain if we do short bursts.

Just had it pumped and still doing it, after researching I’m curious if joker valve or vent line issue.

What is your thinking

Thanks

The joker valve is usually suspect if it's leaking back into bowl. The leaves of the joker face away from the bowl, so not likely to impede emptying, but once empty, a faulty joker can allow backflow. Try hitting the button for maybe 15 seconds to see if it clears, which should be long enough to clear the discharge hose. If all it does is churn, maybe the hose is blocked.

We had a very small piece of hard clear plastic somehow get into the toilet. The toilet macerator did not like that. Lots of serious splashing until that was removed.

Almost certain this is a joker valve issue but the line to the tank could also be obstructed. The only way to know for sure is to take it apart. I’m not sure of the chemical process but the combination of urine and seawater resulted in a solid crystallized (calcium?) sediment build up in our line nearly blocking it completely. I was able to to break it up somewhat mechanically in the valve and line (joker valve removed and cleaned in the shop sink). Since the buildup seemed much like calcium buildup I decided to try flushing Barnacle Buster (acid based I think) down the toilet. Worst case I was looking a major parts replacement anyway so I tried it. Wow! Did that ever work! I continued to flush the BB down until it flushed fast and clean. Since then we regularly flush some vinegar (a milder acid than BB) down to keep it clear. Never had a problem since but no guarantees!

I’ve got joker valves ordered and will inspect when back at dock

Running longer seemed to help a bit

Try back flushing the waste tank vent thru hull with a garden hose mine did the same thning works fine now clogged vent was all.

Just an aside. I always recommend brown paper bags to put the tissue and wipes into - NOT down the toilet.
