I have decided on the Torqueedo 1003C for my dinghy but I am wondering if there is a compelling reason to choose long shaft over short shaft? I have the factory RIB for a dinghy. It measures 16 inches from the top of the transom to the bottom of V in the hull. Short shaft is 24.6 inches and long 29.5 inches. Tugnuts please weigh in. Thanks.

I have the Torqeedo 1003C with the short shaft, and even that seems almost too long for my factory RIB. I would definitely not get the longer shaft.

I have the same set-up with a short shaft Torqueedo 1003C. It really looks long with the motor installed in the downward position and the RIB on the swim step davits. Once you see it you'll be glad you got the short shaft.

I too used the short shaft. Works very well. The long shaft will be more likely to hit bottom in the shallows.
