I have a R21 EC and was wondering if anybody has towed their Dingy behind the boat
Thanks

All the time. We have a 2.3m inflatable dinghy for two that also fits neatly on swim platform as an option and locks over the stainless railing. When towing the boat and trailer with my pickup it fits neatly over the engine compartment. But once we get to a new location to cruise we just tow it behind the 21EC. Perfect.

Could you describe how you fasten the dinghy down while you're towing the boat? I'm trying to figure out that same configuration. Thanks in advance.

Denis

See what you think about an item called the "Towdster". I have been thinking about it and may buy it. It is a little expensive but looks reliable and helps when docking or backing up. You can google it or find it on you tube.
I have a jet ski i want to tow as well.

When towing the boat the dinghy just sits wedged over engine bay with back of dinghy sitting on rear seat. Fits perfectly. I also put a strap across for safety when towing. The dinghy does not weigh much so relatively easy to put on and off. https://www.whitworths.com.au/aspre-sla ... boat-230sd

what type of engine do you use, Gas or Electric?

I've towed my 12 ft achilles dinghy behind my R27 to Catalina from San Diego three times so far. It's approx. 80 miles each way with about 70 of those miles in open ocean. Granted we choose the time to go based on calm sea states and low wind speeds. The dinghy rides comfortably at the end of a 40 ft bridle attached to the ring on the bow and the two stern cleats on the tug. Last years ride back from Catalina was at night with a 3-4 ft following sea. Mr dinghy rode well the entire way home.

I tow a porta-bote behind my 21ec. I did add an additional cleat at the centre of the swim platform for this purpose. It does reduce my speed my about three quarters of a knot.
