We are excited to pick up our 2009 21ec this week. Fortunately, she is in the water nearby. Two questions: What is her estimated wet weight? What vehicles work to tow a 21ec?

My wife Chris and I look forward to participating on this great site.

The boat's listed weight is around 2750 lb. With full fuel and the average amount of junk it is probably about 3k. Trailers probably vary quite a bit, but my single axle aluminum EZ Loader is probably another 1K or less. We tow it very successfully with a V6 KIa Sorento, rated at 5K towing capacity, purchased specifically to tow the boat. It is perfectly comfortable, with fine acceleration and braking. A Hyundai Santa Fe is essentially the same car. I think a pickup truck is overkill and don't need a truck to buy my groceries each week.

Welcome to the Forum.
My 2016 EC weighs 4300# on a single-axle aluminum trailer with full fuel and light gear (3200# boat, 1100# trailer). Tongue weight 390#. I tow it with a late-model F150 with the larger eco-boost. I personally wouldn’t want anything less, particularly in the brake department.

We tow our 2014 and EZL single axle with a VW Touareg V6 which is rated at 7000#. Does just fine. Needed a hitch reciever with a 4’’ rise.

We tow ours with a Toyota Sequoia. Does a fine job and doesn't lack power.

I tow my R-21 EC with a ford F350 Dudley Diesel, over kill yes! Bob

I tow with a Tacoma v-6 4wd. It does a fine job.

My 2014 21EC without fuel or water on single axle trailer weighed in at 4,255 lbs on an official truck scale. I tow it with a a V6 Toyota Tacoma with the towing package. The truck is rated for 6,800 lbs which gives me a 2000 lbd cushion which is truly required. I would be hesitant to tow it with a car or SUV just because of the trailering sway of the boat and braking but people do it. I have access to a full sized GMC pickup which is the preferred towing method. Much better on hills and highway. The Tacoma seems good on secondary roads but struggles a little on hills on the highway at 65.
