I just bought a new Chevy 3500 which comes with a brake controller. The manual isn't too clear, but it seems that if you have electric-over-hydraulic brakes on your trailer the controller may not be compatible. Does anyone have experience with this?

We have a GM w/Duramax and the brake controller works fine with the electric over hydraulic brakes. Our boat trailer originally had surge brakes, and we had Marc and crew at Wefings convert it... just so it would work better with the truck. We switch back and forth from the boat trailer to pulling a 5th wheel - the brake controller makes the towing (and stopping) much easier.

Best wishes,
Jim B.

Jeff at Ranger Tug factory tells me that the GM controller will not work with the EZ Loader electric over hydraulic brakes. Seems like EZ loader could fix that, as it seems like most of the GM 3/4 and 1 ton vehicles have the controllers.

Well, I received an e-mail correspondence immediately from Float On trailers, who are the manufacturers, as well as my dealer, Peter Haywood from Winter Island Yacht sales in Massachusetts and they are both coordinating what seems to be a simple configuration fix. I have to say Winter Island has been a great pleasure to work with!!

I had LOADMASTER build me a trailer.. Their electric over hydraulic works with GM brake controllers right out of the box, no 'fixes' necessary... I would urge Marc to touch hands with these folks... They build a first class trailer...

The good thing about Float on trailers is they will be around 1000lbs lighter and they are built very well and will have no problem handling the load even know they are much lighter.
I have on under my Ranger 29 and love it!
