Thank you glider4. That was good information. I don’t think the trailer is aluminum but will find out more in a couple of days. Of course, a bigger truck would be much better but I’m buying a boat and already have a Tundra. “One disaster at a time” as Zorba might have said.

If it’s a galvanized steel trailer that’s been used in salt water check very carefully for corrosion. Galvanized steel trailers, in my opinion, have a shorter useful life than aluminum which is why most boat trailer manufacturers are using aluminum these days for their bigger trailers.
In the 11 years I owned my 2011 V-8 4x4 Tundra I always thought of it as being a 5/8 ton truck. Half way between the 1/2 ton and 3/4 ton truck from Ford, Chevy or Ram.
