Probably the most neglected piece of equipment in boating is the trailer. In the past few weeks we have bantered about tires. Below is a checklist of some items I do on a regular basis. Not in any particular order.

• Replace Tires every 3 years
• Keep two newest tires for spares
• Carry two spares
• Carry two spare hubs with bearings and greased ready to go
• Carry spare axle spindle.
• Check bearings annually and replace if any doubt of integrity, repack bearings annually
• Check all electrical connections annually and apply corrosion block
• Check break away switch annually
• Check break away battery annually and replace after 5 years.
• Carry high pressure compressor to top off tires
• Check tires for 80 lbs pressure or manufacturers recommended pressure when cold every other day
• When trailer is stored cover tires to protect from UV
• If possible when storing keep weight off tires. If not move trailer once a month to store on different spot on tires.
• For long storage spray breaks and rotors with WD-40
• At each stop check temperature of hubs and tires. Make sure all temperatures are similar. Side with sun may be 10
degrees higher.
• Every 1,000 miles check hub grease and pump some in if necessary.
• After launching boat spray brakes tires and whatever was submerged in salt water with salt away and rinse with
fresh water if available.

And don't forget to check your lugnuts before and after each trip !!
Also wiring, lights, coupler action, safety cables, and winch cable !!
