Hi,
I am looking for a truck that would be good for towing a Ranger 29.

Does anyone have one that they are looking to sell?

Thanks,
Thom

Thanks for the info - I'll be sure to check it out.

I used a crew cab 4WD Chevy 2500 D max [more power than the dodge ]for 5 years , but the first thing I would make sure of with a 3/4 ton truck is having a trailer with very good electric over hydraulic braking . I have recently switched to a 1 ton dually [Dodge , less power than a Duramax but plenty to pull the R 29]for the safety of the bigger brakes and stability on the highway and if putting miles on , I would highly recommended that configuration [1 ton dually]with a diesel exhaust brake . You can install the brake on an older dually truck and its worth it as you will be pulling 13k or better . Its hard to stop with a 3/4 ton .
Just my safety 2 cents .

Just a parenthetical comment... For 011, the Duramax 2500HD (3/4 ton) brakes, frame, and suspension, are upgraded to what was comparable to the one ton trucks while keeping the better ride qualities of the 3/4... And the factory exhaust brake is the 8th wonder of the world, in my opinion... It is head and shoulders a better hauling truck than the 08 we also use...

A 1 ton dually has better squirm and sway control than single wheels/tires and many professional haulers prefer them - especially because the higher GVW keeps them legal when stopped by the highway police... The ride when lightly loaded leaves something to be desired however...

You will get a cushier ride with the duramax. I like the ride of my Dodge because it feels like a truck.
FYI.... I get zero sway with my 2005 3/4 ton shortbed turbo diesel dodge. I love that I pass big trucks towing 14000lbs going 60 to 65mph right up the big hill. I am sure the duramax will do that also.

P.S. My Dodge is legal to tow my boat!

It is hard to find anyone who looks down at a Cummins turbo diesel as an engine... I chartered an American Tug that has the big 6 cylinder Cummins, 340+ hp, and that engine has torque coming out it's ears... Not once did I need more than half throttle...
Chrysler is cash strapped and simply cannot put enough R&D dollars into the truck to make it compete directly with Ford or GM... It is a shame how the mighty Chrysler Corporation has fallen, but bad business decisions, like elections, have consequences... WIth the impending pay off of the borrowed taxpayer monies and another billion dollars from Fiat, perhaps they can run with the big dogs again... This old GM guy is looking forward to seeing another heavy weight punch fest between the big three for the consumers dollar, like it was in the good old days...

To add onto what Denny-O mentioned about the Silverado they won the Motor Trend HD truck of the year award for 2011 for all the reasons he spoke of and by association most would feel the GMC Sierra shares the award. In addition the trucks have, in 2011, a standard automatic locking differential. When a sensor measures more then 100 rpm difference between the rear left and right wheel it locks into place, making for better traction. Apparently no other HD has this yet.
