If you get the Weigh-Safe hitch, the ball is on a 'piston' which slides in the aluminum mount. I would recommend putting some grease on the 'piston' to prevent any corrosion in case any water gets in there. One ramp I used I had to back up enough so that the mount was in the salt water. A few days later when I removed the hitch from my truck, I noticed that the 'piston' was not as free in the mount as I had remembered. I pulled the 'piston' and found evidence of corrosion. I cleaned the 'piston' and the mount and put grease on both. No issues since and I won't use that ramp again.
